Summary
Jake (Eric-Lee Olsen) is forced to put his struggling career in Los Angeles on hold and return home to Phoenix when his father (Eric Reichert) suffers multiple strokes, leaving him fully paralyzed. Jake spends his time evading his responsibilities, reconnecting with a high school crush (Nnenna Eleanya), and trying unsuccessfully to work on a new screenplay. Meanwhile, Jake’s environment continues to deteriorate; dirty dishes and trash pile up at the house, his father’s health insurance is running out, and a fallen tree in the backyard, which he is helpless to remove, seems to loom over his entire life. As Jake’s attempts to avoid his problems spiral more and more out of control, he is finally forced to confront the reality of his father’s condition and his own paralysis in the face of unrealized dreams.
